The shop where we restore ancient barns and craft our historic recreations is, fittingly, on our 6th generation family farm in rural NY. It’s not an exaggeration to say that life moves at a different pace in our small village, and our local Amish community certainly embodies that spirit.

Like the historic Dutch structures that inspired Legacy Barns, the Amish represent an approach to craftsmanship that is legendary; and we’re fortunate to have Amish friends who work closely with us in many phases of our structures.

Our colleagues Ezra and Marvan have become invaluable team members who bring these timeless skills to our barn raisings. And Ezra owns a nearby timber mill where we’re able to saw the impressive beams that make our Historically Precise Recreations genuine in both design and materials.

In addition to sourcing our timber through this unique relationship with the local community, we’re able to provide another level of authenticity and beauty to our recreations. We now have access to both siding and flooring that has been reclaimed by the Amish from many historic structures. Together with our intricate and precise frames, these materials offer a range of options to create truly spectacular interior designs for homes and businesses.
